Nitrite Nitrogen Photometer with 525 nm filter and Cal Check
Nitrites, part of the natural decomposition cycle are the intermediaries between compounds containing nitrogen and fully oxidized nitrates. Unstable in the environment, they are not found in superficial waters. Thus their presence indicates organic waste decomposition. However, in cooling towers an adequate amount of nitrites is necessary to prevent corrosion.
HI 96707 is an auto-diagnostic portable photometer for accurately measuring nitrite nitrogen. The advanced optical system employs a specialized tungsten lamp and a narrow band interference filter, assuring accurate readings between 0.000 to 0.600 mg/L (as NO2–N). This instrument is equipped with Cal Check® validation function and standards to validate good performance at any time. Taking just a few short steps, the validation procedure is user-friendly and ensures that the meter is properly calibrated wherever you go. HANNA photometers use the exclusive ready-made, NiST traceable standards to verify the performance of the instrument and recalibrate if necessary.
Cuvets are constructed from specialized optical glass to ensure the best and most consistent results. The positive locking system ensures that the cuvet is in the same position every time it is placed into the measuring cell. Our sample cell is designed to fit a cuvet with a wide neck to make it easier to add both sample and reagents.
All instruments are factory calibrated and the electronic and optical design minimizes the need for frequent calibration. Ideal for field applications, these meters are splash proof and the lamp and filter units are protected from dust or dirt by a transparent barrier. Display messages aid the user during routine operation. The auto-off feature will disengage the meter after 10 minutes of non-use in measuring mode or 1 hour while in calibration mode. Reagents are in powdered form and are supplied in packets. The amount of reagent is precisely dosed to ensure maximum repeatability. HI 96707 utilizes an adaptation of EPA approved method. The reaction between nitrite and the reagent causes a pink tint in the sample.
HI 96707 supplied with (2) sample cuvettes with caps, 9V battery and instructions. CAL CHECK™ standards and reagents sold separately.
